Although I was taught to sew at a very young age by my maternal grandmother, I was not introduced to quilting until in my late thirties. My introduction to quilting was as a result of my step-daughter wanting to take a quilting class, but not wanting to go alone. From the moment that I first walked into the quilting class, I was hooked! Like most passions, quilting took over my life from that point on and my husband also became bitten by the quilting bug. As a result of this, my husband, ever the entrepreneur, suggested that we make our passion a business and in 1998, The Village Quilt was born.
Now in our 10th year, we look back on all that we have accomplished... From the humble beginnings of our basement to a store in beautiful, historic Elora, Ontario, Canada, to this website and everything in between, we have learned by our many mistakes and have grown individually, as well as together, as we have each developed our own style of quilting and have become more involved in the quilting industry. We hope that you enjoy living with our quilts as much as we have enjoyed making them. We have also enjoyed picking out the very best Mennonite and Amish quilts available and the close friendships that we have developed with these wonderful ladies. All quilts that are displayed throughout the website are available by special order.
By switching from a brick and mortar store to being on the internet, we have been able to expand to service quilters everywhere. We now have notions, thread, patterns, and machine quilting services available. Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your visit. -- David & Diane
